Well this sure sucked. There was no other terms for this; it sucked, big time. Those giant insects were back... after all these years. He had joined the E.D.F thinking this whole story about the ravagers and giant bugs were truly dead and over... but first thing in the morning, he had been briefed with the situation... to his disappointment, his relatively calm days as a military were definitely over... at least, until they'd be able to end this... IF they managed to... and if he even survived.
Right now he had been donned with his suit, the standard Ranger Armor. He had heard there was other types of suits and categories and whatnot out there, but as far as he was concerned what he had was more than enough. Not too heavy, nor too light, well protected and an all-around smart choice for field battles. His weapons included an automatic rifle as well as a Stingray rocket launcher. Once again, the basics... to fight giant insects anyway.
Right now he was in a helicopter, about to be dropped in a hot zone. Several giant insects had been spotted in the area... and he was to wipe the place clean of them... simple enough. Large like they were, it should be easy blowing their faces off.
Was he scared of those things? Hell no. He didn't cared. Heck, that helicopter could crash right there right now, no survivors, that he wouldn't give a damn. His life had been a complete mess before he had joined the military... only finding a slight bit of order there, for a little while, before those thing came crawling out of their holes once more, throwing his whole world to hell again... only this time perhaps in a different manner.
Right now he was this... complete nihilistic sh*tlord that didn't give a flying f*ck about anything.
But at least they had the decency to give him some support. There was another person with him in this chopper... female by the look of it. She was sitting on the other side, so he could hardly tell what she looked like.
He'd clear his throat and speak... might as well. Who knew? Maybe that the last person he'd have the opportunity to speak with.
????: Hey, you there! Guess we'll be on the same mission, huh? What's your name? Mine's Gary! Gary Lanto!
He'd say, shouting over the helicopter's engine.

Yet another bug invasion... not the small ones in your house, though. The big ones. Like... giants. Literally. They were trouble and a certain Wing Diver knew about that. She had lived for a few years in peace now, yet she had received the news about it. While she was already keeping herself in shape in the morning by doing her exercises she had received the information on the coming back of those giant insects. It was unbelievable... truly, they were a persistent bunch. Yet she knew just how important it was so obviously she would prepare herself. This woman had joined the E.D.F because she wanted to be useful and protect the Earth. To prove herself, basically.
In order to be fully prepared, the woman had to put on her suit for Wing Divers. Something light and protecting mostly the highest part of the body and a helmet on her head with a visor over the eyes. With that came a jetpack which the Wing Divers could use to fly around. Therefor she was fast, but fragile. She had with her two type of weapons that she would carry around. The Ixion, a particle cannon type as well as the E1 plasma launcher. Both weapons and her jetpack shared the same tank of energy.
She was nervous... truly it was always stressful since, well... she was putting her life at risk. She still managed to remain calm and serious about it. She had to or else things would become pretty tough for her and those she would be put with.
Having made herself ready, she headed out to do everything she would be told. Later on, now boarding a chopper, she'd be there sitting on one of the seats looking forward. Breathing in and out to calm herseld, it didn't take long before she could become calm. Now to wait... it wasn't the time to take action yet. It's then that she would hear someone call for her. Someone she probably never met. She'd turn around when she heard the voice. The way he spoke, he seemed to be taking this rather lightly or was simply not stressed by it all.
????: Uh... Miku Hayate. Yes. We be on the same mission.
She'd answer him with her accent, making sure to be heard. She was japanese, which explained it. He seemed okay by the first impression. Of course she had just met him seconds ago... it was hard to have a good first impression.

Hearing the response, Garry would let out a small sight of relief. For second there he thought he was dealing with yet another one of those silent, badass, Masterchief wanabes. At least, whoever she was, was decent enough to respond to him in an appropriate manner. And that accent? Chinese? Korean? No... where had he heard that before... oh, that's right, WAPANESE! Holy cow, he had a hot Asian chick on board all. for. himself. Most if not all soldiers he knew would go apeshit right now like gorillas jack on testosterone.
Good for her, however, Gary wasn't one of those. In fact, physique didn't meant jack squat as long as he didn't know the actual person. Her or even his mentality, preferences, so on and so forth. Looks were very secondary to him. So what was he to do now? Well, greet her, of course, gentlement that he was.
Oh. And it's only now he'd remember they were all outfitted with radios... he didn't need to shout over the engine. He'd adjust the mike on his helmet as he'd give it a few taps for testing. The unnecessarily huge chopper they were in would then begin to shake suddenly but briefly; just a simply turbulence most-likely. That enough to make the Ranger burp right in the microphone.
Everyone on board heard it.
Gary: Shit...
That too.
He'd then undo the buckles and get up as he kept a hand on the many hanging handles and eventually make his way up to her, putting up a cheeky grin when he saw her. What struck him first was that she was a wing diver... he had only heard of those before but never saw them in action; they were rare and their existence as well as their training methods held secret by the governments. Guess he'd be seeing one of them in action at least.
The chopper pilot would see the Ranger standing up, do this he'd briefly turn his head around to look at him.
Pilot: Hey pal, sit down! We're not landed yet!
At this Garry would lose his grin as he'd look at him.
Gary: Stuff it bro, keep your eyes on the road! Clouds... whatever!
The pilot would only shake his head as he'd keep going. At least he had done his job; that ranger had been warned. Garry would turn around once more, looking at the wing diver.
Gary: Good to see you! Guess we'll be watching each other's back, huh? I'm sure we'll tore through these things easy! Plus, you're with me... so you don't have to wor-
Pilot: Wow, WHAT THE HELL IS THA- *KTCHING!* UAARRGHH
The sound of something metallic would let itself heard as well as breaking windows, soon by some various alarms of malfunctions going off. Garry would immediately look at what the heck just happened. What he saw was rather troubling... yet, not enough to make him panic or anything, however. The Pilot had been impaled through his chest by a giant... steel dart of a sort, stuck on his seat with blood gushing out. The helicopter's commands were also severely damaged.
Gary: Oh! Oh okay. I'm cool with this. Really.
He'd say, he'd then look at the wingdiver, unsure if she had gotten herself up to see what had happened as well or if she remained seated.
Gary: Pilot's seems to be a bit dead at the moment. I'll have to take command!
He'd say as he'd grab the controls... it wouldn't take long for him that many of those were unresponsive. The chopper was going down at an alarming rate... and already it was starting to spiral out of control. Good thing they weren't too high above ground for helicopter standard. The Ranger would spot a landing place wide enough to them to get down at... he'd try and make his way as smoothly as possible.. as subtle and gentle as a brick attached to a faulty rocket firework.
Gary: Oh boy, HERE WE GO! WOOOO!

Here Miku had no idea what this guy wanted from her. He adressed her randomly... well they were pretty much the only ones aboard along with the pilot. Would make sense to just talk to the only other person who was there. Still, she didn't know if he wanted anything from her anyway. Least she could do was to answer him and introduce herself properly, which she did. Oh well... he seemed nice at least. *Burp* Well... he seemed okay now. Both that burp and the cuss he let out in the radio made her wonder if this was all on purpose, but the way it happened made her think otherwise. She looked slightly disgusted by it, but not enough to want to run away from him or anything.
She couldn't get her eyes off of him and watched him getting up. Was he really trained? If anything he should just stay there and wait for the chopper to land before they'd get off! She wanted to remind him this little piece of information, but it seemed like the pilot at the front took care of that. Yet, Gary seemed to not give a flying shit about it, given the answer he gave to the pilot. It's right after that he'd come back to Miku who didn't move from her place. The Wing Diver just listened to the ranger speaking about how they'd be on the same team and working together. She'd give him an answer, but her attention had been carried to something else...
A really loud metal sound as well as glass shattering made itself be heard in the chopper... It was instantly followed by the cries of a man pretty much dying. Oh... this was bad. They hadn't even landed that something was already happening?! After what Gary could confirm that yes, the pilot was very well dead! The Wing Diver froze on place for a moment, but quickly recovered before she'd quickly undo the buckle and got up with her equipment on. She'd hold against one of the handles up near the ceiling of the chopper so she wouldn't just fall flat on her bottom while the chopper was pretty much going to crash at the moment. With that she'd hastily walk to see what Gary was up to... That guy took the commands of the engine, but... did he even know how to pilot that thing?! Besides, could it even be controlled with what happened?
Miku: WHAT ALE YOU DOING?!
She'd yell in panic. The vehicule was falling down and she could feel it too well, it was very very stressful.
Miku: Do you even know how to contlol this thing?! We going to clash!!
She'd talk in the radio once more to make herself be heard. This was off to a very bad start!

Did he knew how to pilot this thing? Eh, sort of? He did have some crash courses 101 on how to pilot helicopters in simulations and few real life practices. Honestly he was more specialized into piloting tanks... but he knew what he was doing. More of less. This chopper was a transport model and the commands were a bit different. Not to mention that there was a huge steel spike lodged right in the middle of everything.
Pushing aside the dead pilot as he then took the seat, his hands still on the main commands as his eyes would shift around nervously, trying to make heads and tails of what was actually working and what wasn't. Many lights were flashing... but the one that caught his attention was "hydraulics failure" as well as the hydraulic pressure gauge that was steadily going down. This was bad. When Miku came in, however, and started yelling at him, Gary would just snap at her... given he was pretty much over his head here.
Gary: Y-yeah! We're going to "clash"! Thank you captain obvious... I haven't noticed! Now SIT DOWN!
Quickly he'd buckle himself. He'd then reach for the rear propeller command but would find out that this one wasn't responsive either. The main propeller was starting to slow down as well, the computer begging the pilot to add more power to it... to bad he just couldn't. The helicopter was now closing in to the ground at an alarming rate. Gritting his teeth, he'd aim for a box van as he'd pull hard on the commands, pressing the emergency gas cut-off button as well as safety measure.
The remaining hydraulics would allow him to pull the nose up as the tail would crash in first, softening their landing by a bit... then the van crushing underneath them as the chopper would then tumble on itself several time, eventually stopping as it embedded itself in a building.
Strapped in his chair, his arms and legs would flail about as the vehicle would flip and tumble around. His head would remain tight against the bench, however, doing his best to avoid any neck injuries. But when the chopper crashed into the building, Gary had the wind literally knocked out of him... dazed and seeing double... as well as a heavy ringing in his ears.
Everything was fuzzy, barely able to make heads and tails of his surroundings. He'd cough a few times as he'd unbuckle himself... being upside-down, he'd land hard on the helicopter's ceiling as he'd flop on his side.
Gary: *Cough!* *Cough!* Oh my god... *Cough* Dear... god. Flawless landing... achievement unlocked.
He'd say as he'd get back up... slowly making his way to the rear of the chopper, wanting to see if Miku had fared any better.
Gary: Ugh... you okay back there?

Obviously stress had taken over the wing diver there. She had no idea if Gary could pilot this thing, but she sure knew that she couldn't! Wing Divers didn't need this sort of training as it was left to other specialised classes. She held herself up against the whatever she could hold or grip to. Her heart beating rather fast that she was looking around to see if there wasn't any alternative for them both to get out of there alive, but Gary seemed to be minded on making a beautiful landing anyway. Immediately after she had spoken, the ranger told her rather clearly to sit down. Under these conditions, she thought that it probably would be best if she didn't want to be catapulted through the front window!
On this one she'd listen to him. No choice really, their lives was at stake right now. She could have tried to jump out, but with a chopper that is wobbling about while dangerously falling down was rather though. She could easily trip and have no means of getting back up in time so she sat down and buckled up again. Furthermore she'd also get a good grip on what was around her and was ready for the impact.
It was about now... the flying vehicule would manage to raise its nose slightly and the crashing would begin! First the tail of the chopper would hit the ground, softening the whole landing a small bit, but it would still be pretty violent as the body would follow next. The impact made it hard to hold on place, obviously. Miku kept gripping and was shaken in every direction as the vehicule was doing its flips until it would hit a building. The final impact wasn't as hard on Miku as it was on Gary, given that he was at the front, but still... not enough to say that it was a breeze. It did shake pretty hard and her head couldn't really be accosted on anything.
In her seat, the chopper now being upside down, she wouldn't move just yet. Head hanging towards the ceiling, this was a pretty cumbersome situation to deal with. Opening her eyes, the wing diver could see that things had finally stopped. Overall she was feeling fine, but damn has she had her brain shaken out of her skull. Dizzy from the landing, she would eventually recover and finally unbuckle herself only to land on the ceiling. Good thing it wasn't far. Now on her back she would turn herself. She'd get up with a hand on the head and that's when Gary arrived to ask if she was fine. Looking at him she would nod a little.
Miku: Yes... I am fine... but no staying hele. Let's get out.
She'd say, now heading towards her weapons, grabing the plasma launcher to put away for now and taking up the Ixion which she would use at first to avoid blasting herself up if the giant insects were too close already.
