Gautama would look at the two angels for a moment before he'd get close. His eyes would squint for a few seconds as he examined them. He never doubted Raiya, of course; he knew all too well she'd be responsible with her choice. But still... he didn't know either them. He did not doubted them either, but simply was curious about those two.
The spiritual leader would look at both of them still, examining them from head to toe, circling them while at the same time smiling as well chuckling here and then. Thing is, he was doing way more than simply looking at them from the simple exterior. With a simple few seconds around someone... the deer, having gain a certain state of mind could literally read them like open books.
How he did, exactly... that would be beyond many's understanding. He'd eventually finish his last round around them and stop in front of them.
Gautama: Hehehe... yes, quite good! I do believe both of you should get along quite well with my two disciples... One seemingly... a bit more... laid back, would I risk to say? As well as surprisingly intelligent... With the other steadfast and with a discipline without bound! Hah! Quite the interesting duo, completing each other in their own ways!
He'd turn around looking at his own two disciples.
Gautama: Same for those two in a certain way... one being a bit volatile and the other perhaps a bit too firmly rooted to the ground!
Gorudo wouldn't really react to his master's comment... perhaps only looking somewhere to his left. The pegasus would simply pull out a funny face at the angels to that statement.
Gautama: Well! I believe that is all then... we will be sending all four of them out there by flight instead of teleportation! The time is not currently urgent and I believe it will give them time to get used to one another... cohesion and understanding might be their best ally throughout all this... yes, it usually always is.
He'd pause and look at Raiya.
Gautama: As for the rest of us, we shall be staying here for a little while before going back to our place. I believe we have certain arrangements to discuss about as for dealing with the current issue on a shorter term...
He'd look back at his two students and give them their traditional bow, the two of them doing the same in return.
Gautama: Namaste!
And with that, they'd be off.
------------Further down the way, flying toward Equestria.---------
Their flight there would be a long, silent one. Demetrius as well as Gorudo not being much of the talkative type. Though, at some point, one of them had to be breaking the ice. Meditation on the flight simply wouldn't cut it at some point.
The dark pegasus with unusually large wings would be the one to break the tension as he'd clear his throat... looking at both of them.
Demetrius: Umm...
He'd scratch the back of his neck.
Demetrius: So! You two are... angels? What... what is it like, huh? How did you become like that?
He'd simply ask... Gorudo would remain silent... secretly curious as well as he'd land an ear.

Both chosen angels remained still as Gautama turned around them, Raiya having no trouble letting him do so. She could tell what he was doing and for that had stepped out of the circle where only Falina and Taka remained. Speaking of which, Falina stood firm where she was, letting herself be scanned. Taka would look at the deer with his eye as he would pass.
When Gautama would speak about them, Taka couldn't help but to chuckle on what was said, simply accepting the truth about what was said. He knew himself well enough. He knew he was the type to be laid back and take things easy. Even Raiya would chuckle some at all of the statements. He even grinned at Demetrius as he pulled out a face while being spoken of. Once that done and ready, the two angels would face their Archangel while Gautama was giving making the conclusion. Raiya would listen as well.
Raiya: I agree onto this, dear Gautama.
She'd simply say looking at her two angels while the others would take off. Both Falina and Taka were also ready to leave, about to make their steps to go out and join the two others, but would quickly be interrupted by their holy leader.
Raiya: Falina, Taka.
She'd call out to them. The angels would once again turn to face their leader who was approaching them, stopping when close enough.
Raiya: On your way out there, I would like for you two to use a transformation spell to reduce the risks of others suspecting anything.
At that Falina would simply nod with a smile with Taka gave her a salute.
Taka: No probs. Actually had thought about that.
He'd answer. The Archangel would give them both a nod as they'd be about to take off again.
Raiya: And also...
They would stop again to look back at her.
Raiya: The distance might make it more difficult for us to discuss via telepathy. I trust you two to accomplish this task without my help.
She'd tell them. This time Falina and Taka wouldn't say anything. There wasn't anything to say anyway, but would simply smile at her, which Raiya would return to them.
Raiya: Have a safe trip.
And so they'd finally take off.
--------------------------------------
On their way to the land of Equestria, the two angels flew together along with Demetrius and Gorudo, remaining silent as none had anything to say to each other. Their orders were clear and knew what they had to do as well. At this point the two of them remained in their angelic forms as well, no need to change yet.
It's only after a long time that the first words would be spoken out between the four of them, this being started by Demetrius. At that the two angels would look at the pegasus, one coming to wonder how to answer that question of his while the other would simply chuckle at this.
Taka: To put it simply, we died and have been reincarnated as angels! See, you're not just a body that lives. You have a soul and that soul is being sent to the ''other world''. Few make it to be resurrected while others can be reincarnated. Most pure souls become angels.
He'd explain while looking at him.
Taka: As for being an angel... well it's cool! See, I was a unicorn in my life. Now look at me, I have fancy wings to go with it and can cast holy spells! Besides serving Lady Raiya is always a pleasure, she's such a gentle soul. So being an angel isn't bad at all!
Saying this that Falina would smile at it all. Whenever they spoke in good of Raiya, she would always smile.

Demetrius would find himself wincing at the mention of all of them having already died once in the past. Given their look, keeping in mind they probably kept the appearance they had moments priot to their deaths... odds were either of them had died a natural cause. Under normal circumstances, he'd be curious to know how such a thing came to be as well what it took for them to actually become like such... but dwelling on the past was something he had learned not to do. Sure, he'd slip and often find himself thinking about his own, but it usually was short lived and quickly forgotten.
Instead he'd try and pick onto a different part of the conversation. They seemed really fond of that Raiya... but he didn't know her, so this discussion would only be interesting for one side. Afterlife? This was a rather grim type of discussion for him, to be honest. They believed in simple reincarnation and karma; that's as far they'd ever go on the subject.
Demetrius: I... see.
He'd say, still somewhat taken aback by both the angels telling them so casually about their previous demise. He'd have to find a new subject to keep the discussion rolling. Though, before he'd even have the chance to open his mouth again, a projectile shot from the ground level would zoom right toward them.
The dark pegasus would grit his teeth as he'd dodge the monster balista round that zoomed right pass him; only a few inches from an actual hit.
Both the monks would look down at what the hell could possibly was shooting them... it seemed like they were flying over a city. One that had long ago fallen ill to the palestimanian ponies and their ways. Walls had been erected all around the small city, few balistas were mounted on them here and there.
A sand pony would be shouting at them through what seemed to be a magical megaphone. Apparently civilians were not allowed to fly in their territory; especially those who weren't under their religion.
Six armored sand pegasus would come flying up, all of them in simple chain mail, holding spears. They'd circle the four of them and point their weapons at the group. Their eyes would mostly be on the two alicorns... that halo. Some of them recognized what they were, sharing uneasy looks between themselves. Angels were quite the fabled tale, after all. And even if seen as an insult to their spiritual leader and god... not to be messing with. Their chief would clear his throat, keeping a cool nerves nontheless as he'd speak.
Chief: This is Palestimanian area! You do not have the right to fly over our city! You will have to come down and face authority!
At that the golden griffon would remain silent... unfazed by this. As for Demetrius, he'd turn and look at the two others.
Demetrius: Hah! Isn't that cute or what?
He'd say, chuckling.
Demetrius: So... what do we do, fellas?

That conversation with Demetrius, Taka surely enjoyed just speaking a few words with him so far. He liked to share with others and wasn't the type to just shut up about anything. He simply liked to talk was all even if he didn't always look like it. Anyway both of them accepted their own fate so talking about it wasn't very bothering them. If it was about their previous life, though, then he would talk about his if he felt like it and avoid Falina's past. He knew it wasn't of his business.
Seeing that Demetrius seemed to be looking for something to say, the angel would be just about to explain some more about all of that angelic stuff, but instead of that he'd receive a warning in his mind. With this warning he'd quickly move out of the way, giving a flap of his wings to get back and completely avoid the projectile... although it seemed that this giant bolt was aimed at Demetrius who successfully dodged it.
Soon after as they looked down they could see a group of pegasi flying toward them, armed. To which Falina would frown... they'd be slowed down by them now. They had a task to fill. As for Taka he'd wait for them to simply arrive and surround them, now listening to the chief of this small group. He wouldn't look anything like surprised, yet right now they demanded for them to face their authority. What would they even tell them as an excuse?
Falina: We don't have time for this...
She'd simply say after Demetrius asked them their opinion. As for Taka he'd look at the pegasi and at the city below, analysing the situation like he could. Knowing those ponies he didn't feel like trying to convince them with words. Already their kingdom had a taste of them protesting... he didn't want to try and find an excuse when already in his home they tried to offer them comfort and peace... and had to use violence in the end. Taka would back at Demetrius.
Taka: I think it'd be best to simply make our way out of this quickly... if you know what I mean.
Falina would turn her head quickly at him, surprised by his decision.
Falina: What are you... It could only cause more trouble!
To which the laid back angel would smirk. All they had to do was to get them out of the way and keep going... hide if they had to in case of being chased.
Taka: You know how they are... they don't really discuss much either. It's better to be four against six now... than to be four against a whole city if we decide to obey.

Demetrius would grin at this. Yeah, taking care of them seemed like the correct thing to do... though... there was only one problem both him and Gorudo seemed to have finally reflected upon. Both the golden griffin and pegasus would exchange looks of realization at this, looking down for an instant. They had forgotten one important and rather vital clue which pretty much went against their teachings.
Gorudo: We can't engage them here...
He'd mutter to the group.
Demetrius would nod at this.
Demetrius: Considering we're almost half a mile in the air, if they fall off, they'll crash and die... We're not going to kill them unless it's absolutely unavoidable.
Quickly he'd take a look around... further to the left seemed to be a forest. They'd take the battle there, defeat and lose them... then they'd be back on their way. Meanwhile, the chieftain would begin to take notice of their chattering... to this he'd respond by brandishing his spear toward them, reminding them of the current position they were in.
Chief: You'll follow us immediately!
Though, as a respond to that, Demetrius would grab hold of the spear, pull it out of the chief's hand with impressive strength and speed before slamming it down on both him and an other guard, snapping the pole clean in two under the might of the blow. Both of them would tumble out of the way, wincing in pain.
Gorudo meanwhile would take care of two other, dodging the spearheads with ease as he'd kick two more in the stomach, cutting their breaths.
All of this resulting in a wide opening in their circle which the group would take opportunity off. What was left of the remaining standing guards would give chase... the others would take a little time to recompose themselves before following.
Seeing this from the ground, more guards would take notice of the turmoil... as more armed pegasus would come flying out of the city.
While this was taking place, the two monks and angels would eventually arrive in the vast forest... from there it was pretty much only a matter of defeating them... and losing chase.
Demetrius and Gorudo would land... the two pegasus that gave them chase would do so soon after as they rushed toward them, spears ready to strike. The golden griffin would kick the head of the spear away, demolishing the staff itself into splinters as the head of the spear would woosh through the air and plant itself into a nearby tree. Seeing this, the pegasus would toss what was left of his weapon aside and ready himself for unarmed combat.
The guard would rush forth as he'd attempt at punching the griffin right on the beak. The griffin would smirk as he'd simply push his head back and deliver him a kick right to the stomach in riposte. The guard momentarily incapacitated, Goruto would ball his paws into fists and punch him right to the back side of his head. The pegasus' head would lower... only to be greeted with an other fist to the face... then to the stomach.
His opponent dazed, the golden griffin would take the opportunity to jump, spin like a top for added momentum and deliver down the mother of all kicks straight to his chest, promptly breaking a few ribs and knocking him unconscious.
The griffin would then turn and look at Demetrius with a smug look, still in fighting position. Seeing this he'd roll his eyes.
Demetrius: Show off...
The firework specialist would then grab hold of a rock that lied on the ground, about the size of an orange. He'd look at the guard that was coming for him... and simply throw the rock straight to his face, once again with uncanny strength and precision.
The rock would ricochet off the sand pegasus' forehead with a "F'TOCK!" as he'd crash land in a bush, out cold.
At this Demetrius would turn and look at the Golden griffin with that signature grin of his. Gorudo would take a moment to register all this...
Gorudo: That's not even fighting...
He'd mutter as the remaining four guards would come in closer...

Yes... Taka wasn't going to forget this detail. They too wouldn't kill and he had taken their position into consideration. As Demetrius made notice of it to him and the others, he would simply nod in agreement, simply taking a defencive stance in case he had to counter-attack... which wouldn't be the case after their two allies managed to create an opening for them to escape the place. The two other guards remaining didn't have the time to attack as the four of them flew away from the city only to relocate themselves in a vast forest where they would be able to stop them and lose them afterward.
Flying there the two angels saw the remaining sand pony guards on their tail, but they wouldn't stop just yet for that. First they had to reach the forest, which they'd eventually do. Arriving that they'd all land on the ground and the two angels would turn around. The pegasi arrived, already in a position to strike and it looked like both Demetrius and Gorudo had the advantage of the battle already. At that Falina and Taka would simply take a look and observe their companions fighting with two different styles, it seems. While Falina remained still through all of this, Taka would be impressed by the griffin, liking more of his skills, smirking at this all. As for Demetrius... it seemed to be rather simple, taking a rock lying around and... throwing it with a lot of force. It was even able to knock out the guard. At that Taka would chuckle, but he liked more of Gorudo's style anyway since it was joining his own style more... which he'd be able to show soon.
The remaining guards arrived and this time Falina and Taka stepped in, Falina making her own holy weapon appear. A spear of a gold handle and a blade that shined of a bright white. Then both took position as the sand ponies arrived.
Falina: Don't worry... no blood will be spilled here.
By saying that she clearly meant that this blade of her wouldn't cut anypony. As for Taka he could make his own weapon appear... but he didn't need it. His hooves were already his weapons.
The guards would split in two each duo taking on one of the angels. The first group would take on Taka, both trying to get him in a pincer attack attacking from both sides. Quickly the angel would face one and grab the spear as he got close, pulling him as he'd make a spin, letting the other guard strike into the air as Taka managed to avoid it. Then he'd continue his movement while still holding the spear only to plant the weapon into a tree quite deeply at that using his own speed and strenght as well as his opponent's strenght. Spear stuck there that the guard would try to remove it, but in no vain.
Seeing it was useless right away he would try to fight unarmed, but as he turned to face his opponent he would be greeted with two hooves to the face coming at such high speed on the nose which would send the guard away. He was barely able to get up at this point.
During this time the other guard came back to swing the spear at Taka who, as he turned around, would duck to dodge and would throw himself forward, punching the guard in the stomach, making him bent forward and this would then be followed by an uppercut, raising the pegasi back up. Taka would quickly follow then by a quick series of punches to the face without giving it a stop. Quick small punches one after the other only to daze him after a short while and making him drop his weapon. With this Taka could end it all with one final attack. He'd jump up and do a frontflip with which he'd use his hind leg to deliver a drop kick right on the top of his skull, sending him down to the ground and unable to fight anymore. He was done with this one.
As for Falina the two guards that came at her would be exchanging blows with their weapons, Falina parrying them all one after the other until she'd manage to give in a strike as both weapons would come toward her at the same time. This swing of her spear would hit the two others, destabilising them. She'd use this moment to plant the spear to the ground and use it as a pole to lift herself up of the ground and spin to hit the two guards at the same time with her hind legs, sending them in two different directions because of their positions. The mare would take back her spear and go to the nearest one.
As he got up he was still up for a fight while the other had to recover since he took the hit first, which was harder. Again the two would exchange blows, but now that she was one on one... she had the advantage on this one. That spear of his would quickly be removed from his hooves as Falina managed to hit it away while he tried to parry.
Right after, the point of her spear would aim for the neck of the pegasus, but it would stop before it would reach it. The guard backed away on time too, but was stuck against a tree as well so he couldn't just walk back. Staying in this position just to scare him, Falina would quickly retract the spear a little only to grab the guard under the chin and at the neck with the handle to throw him against another tree head first, falling afterward to find himself in the same state as the three other guards.
That done now only two remained. They were already hurt, one that had received a buck on the nose and was sent in some bushes nearby. Actually he couldn't take any more of it... as for the other one he was still able to fight if he even had the courage to, but he would find himself against four of them who managed to take out other like it was nothing.
The two angels would turn to face the remaining one. They didn't forget about Demetrius and Gorudo, though. At that they decided to see who would act first. It wouldn't take too long, right?

Obviously the remaining guard knew what were his chances of success against all four of these monsters... basically slim to naught. He knew backup would be there soon enough, but they probably did not know their exact location in the forest. He'd back up slowly, his flank eventually hitting a large boulder as those four invaders circled him. He'd eye all of them nervously, coldsweating.
At this point he only had three options left. The first two being either running or fighting... but honestly either of them would do him any good. Which called for the third one. It didn't guarantee his own safety, but it surely would mean the end for those four... or so he thought anyway.
He'd pull out something out of his pocket... From where he was, Demetrius would be the first to recognize it. A distress flare. About to knock it out of his right hoof, the thing had already been launched into the air, going higher and higher as it whistled and eventually blew up in a simple white flash.
At this the guard would look at them with a smug look... Demetrius would push the sand pony's head back against the rock... hard and fast, knocking him out as he'd fall down like a loose sack of potato.
Demetrius: Tsch...
Soon after, screaming in a foreign language would be heard from above... Now there was literally dozens of them flying above the woods and coming down in their general direction. The griffin will turn and look at the two other angels.
Gorudo: In their large number it will be difficult to make a retreat unless we allow ourselves to use lethal force...
He'd remark. At this Demetrius would nod.
Demetrius: We'll make a run for it and fight as we move, then! Fly and stay under the trees! Hurry!
And with that, the two monks would spread their wings as they'd fly through the forest, dodging trees and bushes. Speed would mean everything in this current situation.
It didn't take long, however, for some of them to somehow spot them... perhaps Gorudo's bling plumage not helping in this current situation. They're pierce through the leaves and come down right at the two leading monks. Demetrius being at the head of the group would be the first to be assaulted.
First, by a spear... which he'd dodge by a mere inch. The pegasus would then surge forward and deliver a headbutt strong enough to knock the guard out cold... then came in a bolt fired from a crossbow... which he never saw coming.
The projectile would stuck itself right at the base of his neck, piercing his silicone skin as it would lodge itself there but get blocked by the metal plating underneath, barely denting it.
On the outside, however, such a thing would look like a deep if not fatal wound. No blood would come out however... not that it's something they'd be able to notice right away anyway in the middle of a fight.
Not even flinching, Demetrius would pull out bolt out of him and fly to that guard, struggling to reload. He'd grab him by the shoulders, slam him against a tree with uncanny strength and stab him through the arm with the bolt itself, nailing him against the bark. The poor guard would be yelling in agony as he'd try to pull himself out, but in vain.
Demetrius would then pick up the pace once again.
Demetrius: They'll come for him, don't worry!
He'd say, as they kept going... though, that little halting of their had been more than enough for few more of them to catch up... Four more were now on their tails, getting their crossbow ready to fire as they flew.

That guard... Falina should have taken him out sooner. Never would she have figured he had something like that. When the moment came as he took out this thing, she could only wonder what is was, Taka having only a sort of idea about it... but being sure of something when you didn't know anything about the item wasn't helping much. Only by his behavior could he tell that he was about to do something to get them more trouble. Remembering the other guards who were way behind at first, it would make sense.
Following the flare with his eyes he sensed trouble... and it all became clear as they heard them yell. They had been spotted.
Taka: Well isn't that nice...
He'd say sarcastically. After what both angels' attention would be directed toward Gorudo, then Demetrius. Taka would nod right away agreeing to their plan. Right as they started to fly away, Taka and Falina would spread their wings and give a quick look at each other.
Taka: Let's go!
He'd tell her and both would take off right away, flying behind the two others. A short moment later and already they would be under attack from those sand ponies who somehow had already spotted them. Noticing their presence, Taka would take a look behind quickly, yet none were there. The action seemed to happen at the front. As they were flying forward one of them launched an assault on Demetrius. From where they were they would watch and follow as the pegasus would take out that guard in one single attack. Taka smirking, he was confident enough so they could go on, but what happened next would both surprise and shock the two angels. They didn't see exactly what happened, but by looking farther in front of them, seeing a guard wanting to recharge his crossbow, they could understand... Standing where they were along with the others, Falina's horn would flare up, ready to give treatment, yet she would soon let go, looking rather confused with what the heck was happening. She was certain it happened, Demetrius got shot!... But the stallion was still able to move very well, not even seeming to be hurt and using that bolt back to let this guard know he wasn't fighting just any pony.
Puzzled, she was trying to figure out the logic behind that... unfortunately it wasn't exactly the time for this sort of thing at the moment. She'd be quickly reminded of where she was.
Taka: We gotta go, c'mon!
Taka would tell her, getting her back to her senses as she would follow along with her companion. Given that they had stopped for a few, it wasn't too long for them to notice that more were after them, only this time from behind. Flying forward they would hear and see a projectile go between them. The whistling of that bolt got both their attentions and they'd take a look behind... As they would turn, more bolts were fired. In a reflex, both horns would glow bright and... *F'TINK* those projectiles bounced away not leaving a single mark. The two angels managed to bring up magic shield bubbles to cover their bodies.
Falina and Taka kept their eyes on those guards who had now just wasted their shots.
Falina: Ready?...
Taka: Whenever you are.
Marking his visage of a smirk, he'd let his companion play the first move. Since they were at a distance Falina held her spear and threw it at them... Thing was it would be easy to see coming and those guards would dodge it without any problem. The mare wouldn't let that bring her down, it was actually part of her plan. What the guards didn't see was that a string of golden light went after the spear and attached itself to the handle. Falina would pull back on it as hard as she could and the weapon would be brought back, only with the motion the spear would be brought as to slam two guards behind the neck and would be brought to them. Seeing them coming, Taka would aim for a kick at the face of one of the two... BAM! With the force he put in this one and the speed at which the guard came, this one would be sent back at one of the other guards back there, receiving his ally on, knocking them both away. As for the other guard who was dragged toward Falina, this one would receive a solid punch to the stomach before she would take her spear and with it smash him on the chest, keeping her movement on and with a spin would manage to drag him around before throwing him to the ground, leaving him out for this battle.
As for the last one, as he was still recharging his weapon, Falina would once again take her spear and throw. The spear aimed for the crossbow, which it'd hit and with her weapon being much stronger than any regular one, would break the crossbow. Before the spear would reach the guard himself, she'd pull back once more now leaving him unarmed. That done both Taka and Falina would be able to keep going, hoping they'd be able to lose them this time, but then again it was another halt for them since they had to protect themselves.

Both the griffin and pegasus would watch as the pursuers would be dealt with by the two angels, taking note of their fighting style as well simply out of curiosity. They didn't need to lay a hoof, they knew those two had the situation perfectly under control. That additional squad sent after them was dealt with easily enough, making great and original use of that spear alongside a very handy force field which rendered all projectiles completely ineffective.
Once all of them down, several other shouts would let themselves hear... even more of them this time around. At this point, it was pretty much obvious; being on the run while being careful not to kill anypony was simply impossible. They had to be careful, which slowed them down. They'd have to use lethal force to deal with them effectively and quickly... otherwise they'd keep coming and coming.
However, before they'd have a chance to charge... the sound of a horn would let itself hear coming from above. All the guards and soldier would stop dead in their tracks seeing who had given them order to halt themselves, keeping themselves on defensive, they'd retreat slowly, apparently leaving the group completely alone.
The figure that floated above them had no wings, making use of magic to levitate, apparently. His or her whole body was covered in a long and loose black cloak, riddled with holes and tears, his visage hidden by the shadow of his hood. However, even if one couldn't see his visage, it was obvious whoever this pony was was currently looking at them.
When the soldiers would be completely off the grid, he'd disappear in a flash of magic, leaving no trace. Either Gorudo or Demetrius were magic sensors... but if anyone of them were, they would've realized how unnatural, bizarre if not downright macabre as well as powerful that aura of this individual was mere seconds ago.
Seeing they'd chose to leave them alone, the pegasus would smile.
Demetrius: Well! Seems like they got the hint, didn't they? Hah!
To this Gorudo would remain silent... a bit perplexed by what had just happened... but wouldn't think too much about it. Right now they had to be on their way.
Gorudo: Let us get back on our route...
----------Back to present time, at Canterlot.----------
The group would've already reached the Castle, Jolly, Josiah, Violet as well as Applejack, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Sweetie Belle, Apple Bloom. Two more since then would've followed them on their way to the castle, being Fluttershy as well as Scootaloo. The Yellow pegasus had been following them for her own reasons; animals were treated badly around those Palastimanian ponies... something she simply couldn't bear. Chickens and cows exploited for their milk and eggs... rumors were there were also rituals involving sacrifices... weather it was true or not, she didn't dare to imagine.
As for Scootaloo... well, no way she'd let Rainbow dash get all that fun adventure for herself, would she?
Since most of them were the elements of harmony, it wouldn't take long for the whole group to be allowed inside... and eventually reach the throne room itself which was, like the rest of the whole castle, heavily guarded.
When the large golden doors were pushed open, the three princesses sat there as they looked at them from the other end of the room, sitting on their throne. Celestia, raiser of the sun, Luna, raiser of the moon and of course, Twilight Sparkle. The lavender alicorn would immediately throw herself out of her lofty sitting spot and would start galloping toward the group.
Twilight Sparkle: Girls!
Four out of five of the elements of harmony would follow suite, uniting themselves in one big group hug with warm welcomes. Though, it wouldn't take long for Twilight to realize that something was amiss.
Twilight Sparkle: I am so, so, SO sorry I wasn't able to see you all more often than this... things have become... err, a little complicated to put it lightly? I'm sure you know what I'm talking about... And... where's Pinkie Pie?
At this this the group would begin to share uneasy looks between themselves before splitting apart, reveling a quite sad and pathetic-looking Pikamena Diana Pie. Applejack being the first to speak up.
Applejack: Well... m'fraid she's not doing so well, sugarcube.
She'd say, exchanging glares between the both of them. At this Twilight would gasp, getting closer to her. The pink pony was sitting on the ground, looking down at the floor. The princess would get to her level and lower her head, trying to get her attention.
Twilight Sparkle: Pinkie Pie, what's going on? speak to me!
No response. She wouldn't even bother looking up. Rarity would be the next to speak.
Rarity: Her store was about to get raided by those... aweful barbarians down in Ponyville... she also saw Applejack drawing blood in a certain... erm... shall we say... "heated argument" with one of those deluded buffoons... Needless to say it's obvious the sight of it didn't do her any good.
By the time they were having their discussion, both Luna and Celestia had made their way to them as well, listening to the ongoing discussion. Twilight's gaze would then lock on the two other individuals... both the purple pegasus and sand pony adventurer. She recognized one of the two... he often came and rented books at her library.
Twilight Sparkle: Oh! Mr. Thinker! I'm sorry I haven't recognized you any sooner!
She'd say, beaming him a smile.
Twilight Sparkle: I... have to admit that I'm quite curious as to what brought you here in such hours... but I suppose you'll be of help concerning my friend Pinkie Pie...?
To this Rainbow Dash would let out an annoyed sigh.
Rainbow Dash: Ugh! What she needs, Twilight, is us! And YOU most importantly! Where have you been when these crazy sand ponies did all this stuff, HUH?! You could've stopped them! You're a princess after all now, aren't you?!
At this Twilight would frown... obviously the rainbow-colored pegasus had no idea of the things she had went through up here at the castle as well.
Twilight Sparkle: If... things were so easy, Rainbow Dash... And mr.Thinker here is a dear friend of mine as well! I believe the help of a professional would be one wise thing to do considering how down she is right now...
She'd say, looking down at the once-party pony then back at Jolly.
Twilight Sparkle: You'll be able to help her, right?

Both angels would hear and take notice of more guards being around them. It's as if there would be no end to them and they didn't really like to think they'd have to use their big moves on them as well. They didn't want to get to that... Putting themselves into position they would be ready to take on more of them, since they didn't have much of a choice up to this point. Falina and Taka looking to the front and their left or right depending on which side they were, this way covering their side with their eyes already.
It's at the sound of the horn that they would look elsewhere instead. At that the guards would retreat and leave the group. While Taka was having a look around, Falina had her eyes on something... or more like somepony who was floating above them with the use of magic. Taka would follow looking up as well and would come back to looking at her visage instead. He could read how worried she was.
At Demetrius' remark, she wouldn't even look. She'd simply watch the figure go away and stare into the distance some more while the others were getting ready to take back their route.
Taka: C'mon, we gotta go.
The angel would tell her, nudging her on the shoulder. Being taken back to reality she'd drift her attention to him and the others.
Falina: I'm not liking this... This figure just now, I felt a strong aura coming from it... I felt darkness.
Taka would take a second to hear what she said, but right now he knew they didn't have time to think about that. As Gorudo said they had to get back to their task now. Without saying anything he would simply swing his head to tell her to follow him as well as their allies. Without another word on the matter that's what she would do, clearly understanding.
----------------------------------
Jolly and Violet, both traveling with Josiah as well as all of the others who decided to follow... Even Fluttershy and Scootaloo were following them now for their own reasons. Anyway, better for them since Jolly would consider the town not safe anymore. Canterlot would be a much better place and with the two... No, the three princesses now, Celestia, Luna as well as Twilight Sparkle. With all of them, they could be garanteed safety, or so Jolly thought that way.
Not to mention that the castle there was heavily guarded. They were taking measures to protect their citizens. Upon reaching the throne room where the three princesses were, Jolly and Violet would remain behind while the mares were living their reunion, Twilight obviously concerned about all of them as well as Pinkie Pie who needed the most help, yet not even the purple princess could get her attention.
Finally he would be noticed by Twilight to who he'd throw a smile. About to answer her next, he wouldn't have much of a chance to do so as Rainbow Dash decided to throw a remark on all of this. Looking at her, even Violet would glare at the rainbow pegasus, frowning. Heck, her uncle was the best! He'd help Pinkie Pie in no time! Anyway, he'd finally be able to answer, keeping a reassuring smile on.
Jolly: Don't worry about this, Twil... I mean, Princess Twilight. She'll be in good hooves, I'll take care of her.
He'd tell her, yet his expression would change to a more serious one. His reason to come here was different from usual.
Jolly: Yet first I think we need to put up a discussion on what's going on... I didn't come here to borrow a book or anything.
At that he would get out of the way, simply revealing his niece in her new tasteless colors. This one would also be looking up at the princess. She wasn't the only one like this as well, Twilight surely couldn't ignore Rarity's look as well as Sweetie Belle, yet in her excitement of finding back her friends it was possible that she just ignored the fact as of right now.
Jolly: Ponyville is in trouble. We had to make use of these to help us leave the town, thanks to Rarity's skills. It was until we met with Applejack and the others who we helped out and escaped with.
Explaining this he would turn his head to Josiah next. He didn't forget about him.
Jolly: This here is Josiah. He's a friend and has his own reasons to come to Canterlot. He has to talk with the princesses, so I agreed to accompany him here... Not that we had much of a choice anyway and I wanted to let you all know of how bad the situation is. Perhaps you're already even aware.

Listening to the purple pony, Luna would simply raise an eyebrow... at this point starting to wonder if he was mocking her. Both her and her sister, as well as Twilight sparkle were rulers of Equestria and had well over two thousand years of expertise into the domain of ruling an empire. Her face would change for one of dead-pan expression. She'd look at Celestia... who'd simply try and soften her ego by giving her a sly smile.
Needless to say, it didn't work.
Luna: Yes, believe it or not, O wise purple one, both of us were quite aware of this situation before anypony else was... for quite a long shot, even. But a million thanks for the reminder... it shall be duly noted.
She'd say, quite thick on sarcasm. The complaints they've been getting on the matter were simply countless... and to be honest, she was beyond fed up with it. It was one of those frustrating situations which simply couldn't be dealt with either kind words or brute force.
Taking a few steps forth, Celestia would motion her sister to simmer down. She'd look away, a bit frustrated still. She was stressed off, obviously it showed.
Celestia: What... my sister is trying to tell you all is that although we are well aware of the predicament we are all into... it isn't something which can be easily dealt with.
She'd take a pause, carefully picking her words.
Celestia: Palestimane is a very powerful country on its own; if we were to take any drastic measure to drive them off our lands... it would most undoubtedly result in a declaration of war...
She'd shake her head.
Celestia: And I cannot punish my own ponies for being misguided; it is not their fault. We need to find a way to turn all this into our favor... in a pacific way... and avoid any unnecessary bloodbaths.
She'd pause, her lips forming into a smile.
Celestia: This is why me, my sister and Twilight were able to contact... shall I say... dear old friends of mine until very recently in an attempt to solve this problem. They will be landing their help to aid us in our times of crisis...
She'd look at the whole group, smiling.
Celestia: We are currently awaiting four messengers which, according to what I've been told, may very well be holding the solution to all our problems! They will be giving the details once they reach our capital... but I have much faith in all of this.
Josiah would be clearing his throat, lifting his right hoof up. All of them would turn around and look at him. He'd take the opportunity to speak up.
Josiah: I... um, don't want to break any of your sunny disposition, your highness... but I think we go another problem that'll require your attention.
At this Luna would frown, looking at him.
Luna: Yes, another problem; exactly what we need. And what, pray tell, may this be?
She'd say, sighing. The sand pony would pull out the device he had been carrying around and show it to them, holding it carefully in his hooves. All the princesses would be looking at it, though, none of them knew for certain what it could possibly be... at least, not on first glance.
Celestia: May I?
She'd ask, intrigued. She could feel the magical power emanating from it, which obviously poked her curiosity. The sand pony would simply nod as the object was levitated off from his hooves by the use of magic. He'd take the opportunity to tell her, while she inspected it, what he knew about it.
Josiah: I literally put my life on the line countless of times just to make sure this shiny pretty thing would make its way to you, ladies. I don't know the exact whereabouts about it... only that it's supposed to act like a map... and that it needs a-
Celestia: Key... yes. I know what this device is. I recognize the writings, as well as the symbols and just the way it was built. The magic behind it; it is ancient and older than me... quite familiar, even. I wouldn't be surprised... that...
Her voice would trail off as her eyes narrowed, seemingly lost in thoughts. Luna would continue.
Luna: Do you think... mom and dad built this?
At this Celestia's eyes would close as she'd smile.
Celestia: Perhaps... And if it happens to be what I think it is... Then I understand all too well why Palestimane would want to get their hooves on it... however, before drawing anymore conclusions, we will have to conduct proper researches on this artifact and determine it's true meanings, uses and nature...
The solar monarch would look at Josiah, smiling.
Celestia: Thank you for bringing this to us, dear Josiah. Your courage and determination shall not be forgotten.
She'd then look at the rest of the group.
Celestia: For now, however, all of you will be staying in the castle while we sort things out... you will be given guest rooms; going out there again might be dangerous with all the attention you’ve been gathering. I will send guards retrieve most of your belongings. Just make a list of whatever items you deem important to retrieve and with use of magic it shall be delivered here to my castle.
Her sight would then lock on the purple pegasus once more.
Celestia: Meanwhile, I trust you will do your very best to help Pinkie Pie get back into her usual self. Seeing the element of laughter itself in such a state is... quite worrisome.
---Some time later, all of the ponies would’ve been escorted to their respective rooms; most of their personal belongings brought back to them for the time being. The princesses would be busy on their own end studying the artifact while the four messengers would almost be reaching the Canterlot castle. Pinkie Pie had also been sent at the therapist’s room for an evening session.---
Pinkie Pie would still be as morally downed as she had been moments ago, her mane and tail being all flat, so were her expression. Joy had been erased from her features as she just sat on her chair, looking down at the ground and remaining silent. She didn’t feel like anything would help, nor did she thought Jolly would have any chances at that either...

The attitude of the moon princess didn't please Jolly so much. Sure he could understand why she'd react like that, but heck he just was forced to leave his village. How would he not talk about the situation? Anyway, this he wouldn't let it affect him too much. He'd be aware that this situation wasn't easy to be dealt with, which would be explained by Celestia who took a calmer tone.
As she would be done giving them explanations the pegasus would give her a smile, feeling relieved.
Jolly: Truly relieved to hear this, your highness. I should have thought about this sooner instead of warning you about something you already know.
He'd chuckle.
Jolly: I guess my mind was somewhere else.
He'd add. Well all in all it was good news. After that he'd be given one more task to do once Celestia was done speaking about the strange object Josiah brought them. As he heard it was maybe built by both the princesses' parents, his eyes would widen some. If it was truly that, then even without knowing what it'd do exactly he wouldn't doubt that it had its own sort of power and that it wouldn't be anything small.
Anyway, as the princess of the sun came to him once more, he'd nod at her request.
Jolly: I'll help her out the best I can. I can't guarantee that it will be successful right away, it'll depend on her, but I know I'll be able to do something.
-------------------------
As everypony was sent to a respective room, Jolly and Violet would share one with their things brought to them. At this moment he'd be installing himself as he was told Pinkie would come and see him here. He'd have his chair there and even asked for his long chair to be there as well in case... besides it was comfortable.
He was almost ready. He needed to wait for her to arrive, but he also always prefered to have his ''office'' emptied of everyone except for him and the patient. Yes, even Violet wasn't allowed to stay in the room when he was with somepony. So while she was on the bed there, he'd turn to face her, smiling some.
Jolly: Can I ask you to wait outside while I'm having Pinkie here?
The young unicorn would look back at him. Usually she would nod without hesitation, but this time she wasn't home, she was in a royal palace where guards would circulate around the place... and she had no idea of where to go either. Just by looking at her face being unsure he could tell why and would allow himself to chuckle at this.
Jolly: Just go and see the others. Perhaps you can go play with the three fillies too.
Well here that was an idea, considering the rooms were not far from each other. She could at least explore this area without getting lost. Although she wasn't used to this, she'd give him a small smile and an ''okay'' as an answer. With that she'd jump off the bed and head for the door. Upon reaching it she'd turn, give a last look at her uncle and soon she'd be off to go and take a look around.
Finally after a moment Pinkie would arrive inside the room. Jolly waited next to the door to greet her in and would show her a seat to take. Once she'd sit down he would do the same in his usual chair, a table next to him with a notepad, quill and ink as well as a glass of water. Pinkie was offered the same for the water on another small table next to her.
Just by looking at her he would feel sorry for the pink pony. He had heard about this state of her, but had never witnessed it. She looked miserable. Her mane and her tail being so flat when it was usually puffy. Her stare at the ground like that, it's as if she had lost all hope. He really had to do something for her and hoped she would cooperate. Already Twilight was unable to get her to talk... After a short moment of silence he would allow himself to break it.
Jolly: What scares you at the moment?

Smiling was something she was used to. It wasn't just some sort of willy-nelly habit of hers, no; it was a real, genuine practice of her she preached even in the worst of times. It often was difficult, ignoring and putting aside just about everything that could turn that smile of her's upside-down. Or her friend's. But she'd normally manage. There was always something out there she could bring up, something positive in this world which could turn the tide, or just make it worthwhile.
But now? She had a hard time getting out of that hole she dug herself into. Nothing was like it used to be. And no matter how intensively she looked, nothing seemed to be able to make things more bearable. Sure, she had friends, but all of them were just in the same thick amount of trouble as her. Making them smile was very difficult if not downright impossible.
At Jolly's question, her ears would perk up slightly. Looking at him for a brief moment as her gaze would then flee to the right, her left hoof reaching her right shoulder, rubbing it.
Pinkie Pie: I... I'm scared because nopony wants to smile anymore!
She'd bluntly put out.
Pinkie Pie: I tried! I really did! But it became harder and... and now it's not working anymore!
She'd say as tears already began rolling down, sniffing now and then.
Pinkie Pie: With everything that happened... I can't make people laugh no more! Everything became sad...
She'd finish, looking down again.
----------------
Meanwhile, the four other adventurers had finally made their way to the castle. Expected, upon arriving, they were asked to wait in front or a door, apparently leading to the war room. The princesses weren't there at the moment, but would be shortly. Or so they've been told anyway. Both Gorudo as well as Demetrius would take a good look around meanwhile. Though, once everything seen already twice, a dead silence would take place. The pegasus would be the first one to break the silence, as always.
Demetrius: So... about that weird flying unicorn dressed up in a black cloak... any ideas?
He'd ask. Gorudo would quirk an eyebrow a this, not believing he was really worth talking or worrying about.
Gorudo: Probably their commander of a sort... that's all there is to it in my opinion.
He'd respond flatly.

Smiling seemed to be rather difficult at this point, it was true. And if Pinkie Pie here couldn't manage to make others smile... then making herself do the same would be very hard as well. She couldn't even do it to the others, which was truly important to her. Jolly would be able to understand that. He'd confirm so by nodding at her slowly, saying her understood well. He saw that she gave herself the job to make others feel happy even in harder times and what she lived was a failure.
He felt for her. He knew himself that others wouldn't always do what she expected, but he couldn't be blunt about it. He couldn't give the answer to her. He'd rather have her realise it smoothly instead or else he'd fear that she would react badly.
Jolly: I see what you mean. I see that it's important to you.
He'd tell her first before going on, simply keeping his eyes on her at the moment, not going to his pad to write anything. At that he'd then lay back in his chair, accosting his own back to the one of the chair, giving himself a straighter posture. He'd look more easy going at that.
Jolly: So why don't we try to understand the reason behind all of this? We might find a way to give you back your smile first.
----------------------------
Arriving inside the castle, the two angels would follow the others. Both of them had kept their transformation spell on. Taka being a unicorn and Falina a pegasus. While there was nothing to do, they'd simply sit there and wait, not really thinking about anything... well no. They were actually curious of something, yet they'd be brought back to reality as Demetrius asked everyone a question to break the silence. The angels listened and as Gorudo put his thought out on the subject, Falina would come to add some more on it. She'd even look somewhat worried just remembering the feeling she had.
Falina: Their commander... He didn't feel like just a regular unicorn. I could sense... a strong force coming from that figure. I felt uneasy sensing his aura.
Curious to know more about that, Taka couldn't help himself but to ask:
Taka: Can you tell more about that guy?
He knew his companion well. She was better than him in magic in general and she was spending a lot of time with Raiya. Their leader Archangel had the ability to sense magic and evil auras. Most angels had this ability to sense evil energy as well, but with some it was much stronger than the others. Falina was one of them. She could perceive magical auras and feel them almost as good as Raiya. Yet as she looked at him she could only shake her head left and right some to answer him.
Falina: There isn't much I can tell about it. All I know is that it isn't good. Whoever it was, it's not somepony we should underestimate.

Well, the reason behind all this was pretty obvious. So obvious she didn't think elaboration on the matter would be really necessary. Her shop was running out of business, mares were being oppressed in ways that made her sick in her stomach, and finally, her friends got into a brawl. Blood had been spilled; something she haven't seen since the the canterlot wedding fiasco. And even then, bruises were what she had seen at most.
So all in all, everything was going the wrong way. And the worst part in all this was that looking at how things were going, nothing indicated they would get any better. She knew ponies couldn't always possibly smile. Yes, she didn't seem like one capable of accepting such facts, but she did. People had the right to be sad.
But here? Since these ponies came in and changed everything... She feared that the joy as well as the tolerance and simple magic that was in the air would vanish, forever. This... religion of theirs. Everything was serious, everything was harsh and lacked the thing that made Equestria what it once was.
She'd look away once more.
Pinkie Pie: I know sticking a smile on a pony's face isn't always possible. Some prefer to stay sad.
She'd shrug.
Pinkie Pie: They usually get to be happy sooner or later... but now...
She'd look down, an eerie silence taking place before she'd get to talk some more.
Pinkie Pie: Things just aren't the same anymore.
She'd simply say. What was there to be added? She'd bite her inferior lip, holding back on her tears.
Pinkie Pie: Everything changed! My welcome parties aren't welcome anymore, ponies don't like what I bake no more either! I can't play music... or dress up funny! I... I can't do anything! All they look forward too now is that... dumb religion of theirs! They've become selfish... e-evil, even! What can ANYPONY do against that?!
She'd finish, finally breaking into sobs.
----------
Gorudo would remain silent as he'd idly listen to the angels. Honestly, he believed he had seen them all. Being Gautama's bodyguard for several years now, the griffin was sure such individuals wouldn't pose any threat. Simply put, nothing they couldn't handle. Perhaps he or she would stand out from the bunch, but that'd be just about it.
Demetrius wouldn't give it much thoughts either.
Demetrius: Hrm... well if he was that powerful, he could've stopped us back then, but he didn't. In my opinion he's probably nothing too special... worth keeping an eye on, perhaps, but I wouldn't worry too much.
He'd say as, on cue, one of the princesses would come trotting down their way through the hallway. A lavender alicorn; none other than Twilight Sparkle.
As she'd be coming their way, both monks would bow respectfully to her in their own manner. Although she'd probably never quite get used to it, she'd accept whatever gestures they'd be willing to give in her presence. Once all four of them would be done with everything, she'd simply let out a chuckle.
Twilight Sparkle: Pleased to meet you too! I'll admit it's not every day that I get to see people such as you four!
She'd say as she'd begin circling them. Her studious and observant eyes taking hold of every details she possibly could. Her horn would flare up slightly casting a deciphering spell... basically something that'd give away any quirks that would normally be hidden from plain sight.
She'd begin with the unicorn and pegasus... barely a few seconds that she'd immediately pick up on their bright aura. Both of them incredibly similar and radiating of holy magic. She'd also pick up on their disguise spell quite easily as well, obviously.
Twilight Sparkle: Wow... I never would've believed it unless I've seen it with my own eyes... Angels! Real, breathing ones, just like in the legends and tales my mom used to read me before going to bed! Ohh, and a clever disguise spell... using your own magical output to create a disruptive optic barrier in order to fool regular eyesight... Very clever!
She'd say, still doing circles around them, eyes lit with passion. Her gaze would then shift for the two monks... firstly the griffin. His plumage being an abnormal gold... nothing fake here, no paint or glimmers. Something about him, however, was quite odd... magic was present within him. Something foreign, that leached to him in a symbiotic fashion. Though, she could not figure out what it was exactly.
Her sight would then shift toward the pegasus. She'd feel something odd about him. Curious, she'd strengthen her detection spell, allowing her to literally see through solid matter at this point and vision magical auras.
Needless to say, what she saw left her baffled beyond measures. Demetrius would blink, quite unsure of what to do or what to say.
Twilight Sparkle: I... I... never seen such... nor even heard of... what... how...?
She'd mutter. The griffin would take a step forth... deciding it might be a good time to interrupt the ongoing happenings.
Gorudo: I... believe we have more urgent matter we should be taking care of, your majesty.
At this she'd snap back to reality... realizing just how much intrusive she had just been. Shaking her head and dropping her spell, she'd nod as she'd open the door to her own room, inviting her guests inside.
Basically her room was more of a library than anything else. In the middle was a large gathering table with several chair. Going there, she'd invite them to take a seat, smiling warmly at them.
